Home Our Physicians William Palmer, M.D.

William Jeffrey Palmer, M.D.

Dr. Palmer completed his undergraduate education at St. Louis University with a degree in psychology and earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he also completed his Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship.

After completing his training in June 2007, he joined the Arkansas Psychiatric Clinic.

Dr. Palmer specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry, but he sees adult patients as well. His focus is individualized treatment involving a combination of reasonable medication management for target symptoms of psychiatric disorders, accompanied by brief therapeutic encounters when appropriate, and therapist or sub specialist referral when necessary. Initial visits usually consist of a complete psychiatric and medical history, assessment of current problems, brief physical examination if necessary, and discussion of diagnoses and treatment options. He prefers a collaborative approach to treatment, involving patient, parents (if patient is a child/adolescent), physician, and therapist in decision making.

In addition to his private practice, he also serves as medical director for child and adolescent acute inpatient and outpatient services at the Bridgeway Hospital. Dr. Palmer is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
